What is that meat I’m really eating?

Many people are up in arms over the controversy going on in Europe regarding horse meat being mixed in with pre-packaged beef products.
I have said many times that in the 21st century, there is no food transparency. We just don’t know where our food is coming from. Not only are we in the dark about our meat products, but the problem extends all the way to fish, as well as fruits and vegetables.
The public is constantly being conned. We’ve discovered certain kinds of fish are labeled inappropriately, that many of our foods have been genetically modified; and now, clearly we see that any animal with four legs can be slaughtered and labeled as beef.

I can’t do anything about what’s going on overseas, but the situation does have me thinking: Don’t you think if a scandal like this is going on in England, it could also be going on here?
There is no doubt there is a direct link between what we put in our mouths and how our bodies develop. You can take many forms of pure protein and find there are positive benefits regarding the growth and development of our bodies. Certainly, some wild game like moose meat has hypoallergenic properties, as well as being very low in cholesterol and bad fats.
But what’s killing us is the foods being contaminated by chemicals, antibiotics and preservatives. In a world with so much regulation, it amazes me how little transparency we have regarding what we put in our bodies. The problem is going to get worse, and so I’m wondering: What is it that we’re eating right now?
