San Antonio City Manager Sheryl Sculley is doing her part to help municipal workers stay in shape.

Sculley has asked the staff to remove sugary sodas from the city's 250 beverage vending machines. Next on her removal list will be high-fat foods in the 75 snack machines in city facilities.

Sculley, who calls herself a "fitness person," said Monday that she wants San Antonio city employees to be healthy.

The new policy does not ban employees from eating fatty foods and consuming sugary drinks at work, but it makes such items not so easily available.

Camille Miller with the Austin-based Texas Health Institute, which is a public policy think tank, says she's unaware of any other Texas city with similar rules. Miller says that making healthy items easily available is "just good policy."
