Mother Dies While Waiting for Medical Treatment at Airport

A 39-year-old mother of two died after waiting 40 minutes for medical attention at a Philidelphia airport, CBSPhilly.com reported.

Jennifer Moore flew into Philidelphia International Airport for her son’s birthday party, but soon after departing the plane, collapsed in the bathroom inside the terminal.

Dispatch records show that medics in the surrounding area were busy on other assignments and unable to respond in a timely manner to 911 calls describing Moore’s condition and asking for help. Moore asked that the good Samaritans who came to her aid call her husband, Timothy, who arrived at the scene from his job in Newark, Del., before the paramedics.

Although four police officers performed CPR on Moore and repeatedly called for medics, her condition worsened and she lost consciousness. When an ambulance arrived 40 minutes later, doctors said there was nothing more they could do.

A statement issued from the Deputy Mayor for Public Safety Everett Gillison said, “After receiving information from the fire and police departments and the Philadelphia International Airport, the City’s Office of Public Safety has begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of Mrs. Moore. An examination of the communications between a civilian who was with Mrs. Moore and the first responders, and how these transmissions were impacted by a simultaneous but unrelated incident at the airport are also under review.”
