An Iowa woman is being called Dr. Grandma after helping deliver her own granddaughter in the parking lot of a Mason City car wash.

The Globe Gazette reported that Janelle Herrmann of Charles City was pressed into duty while riding to the hospital with her daughter and son-in-law Wednesday.

When it became clear the baby wouldn't wait, Herrmann had Matt Grady pull over at the car wash so she could tend to Tiara Grady.

Before long, Herrmann was catching her granddaughter, Reis, and making sure the umbilical cord wasn't wrapped around her neck.

Paramedics arrived to find both baby and mom doing OK.

And now the family has quite a story to tell about Reis' arrival. Her older brother, Carson, couldn't wait to tell his friends in kindergarten the tale.
