Fauci says he misspoke on when he believes US could get COVID under control

Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told CNN the error occurred during an earlier interview with NPR.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Fauci apologized and said he listened to the interview. He tried to clarify and said if more Americans sign up to take the vaccines – as well as those who have already recovered from the virus--the country could get "some good control in the spring."
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Monday granted full approval to Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine for individuals 16 years and older, Fox Business reported.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}This is not the first time that Fauci was asked when he estimates the country will get back some semblance of normalcy, and then that opens the debate on what exactly "normalcy" means.
In October, in an online discussion that if a significant number of Americans get vaccinated he estimates a return to "some semblance of normality" by the end of 2021 or 2022. He said at the time that the new normal could still mean restaurants do not serve at full capacity and the public continuing to wear face masks indoors.
