Taking inspiration from popular dating apps, one former addict has created an app to help individuals with their sobriety.
Beau Mann created the app Sober Grid to give those who suffer from addiction a chance to connect and help one another keep sober.
Sober Grid users can be anonymous or disclose their names and pictures. The app has a chat function to connect with other users in the community. Mann noted that, if users choose to meet up in person, to do so in a public location and to let a loved one know who you are with and where you are going.

Mann believes that the app will be especially useful during the holidays, as festivities provide strong temptation. The app includes a button labeled “Burning Desire,” to allow a user to alert other users in the vicinity that they need help when temptation arises.
