If you’re in need of an easy and convenient quick bite, Hawaii might be the state for you.

The Aloha State is said to have the highest concentration of fast food restaurants in relation to its population, according to data compiled by NiceRx.com – a prescription assistance platform and resource.

Hawaii reportedly has 97.5 fast food restaurants per 100,000 people. As of 2019, the U.S. Census Bureau estimated the state population was a little more than 1.4 million, which could mean Hawaii has around 1,365 fast food restaurants, according to NiceRX.com’s data.

Although the Pacific island state has the highest per capita number out of 50 states, it does not necessarily mean Hawaii has the most fast food restaurants in the country.

For example, the No. 2 fast-food state, New York, is said to have 92.3 fast food restaurants per 100,000. The rate of restaurants per capita might be lower than Hawaii’s, but New York has far more restaurants, at 17,906.

Similarly, the most populous state in the U.S., California, has a population of 39.5 million and 82.3 fast food restaurants per 100,000 people. These numbers translate to a whopping 32,508.5 fast food locations in The Golden State.

To be fair to Hawaii, though, the state is far smaller than New York and California. The archipelago is 10,931-square-miles versus New York’s 54,556 square miles and California’s 163,696 square miles.

Hawaii’s per capita of fast food restaurants is a little more than three times the amount recorded in Alaska.

The Last Frontier has 61.9 fast food restaurants per 100,000 people and a population of 731,545, according to NiceRX.com and census data, which puts the total number of fast food restaurants in Alaska at around 452.8.

Alaska is the largest U.S. state in size, measuring at 663,300 square miles.
