Burger King Debuts 'Mac n' Cheetos,' But It’s Not Quite What it Sounds Like

Gimmicky fast food items are usually pretty straightforward. There's the from Taco Bell, which is served inside a shell-shaped Dorito; the from McDonalds, which blended Cadbury Eggs into a McFlurry; and the KFC Double Down, which was created on some kind of a double dare (we assume).

With that in mind, we thought we had a pretty good idea of what to expect from Burger King's new "Mac n' Cheetos." Would it be a plate of macaroni and cheese, but with a Cheeto-based sauce? Or maybe it's a bag of Cheetos, but split down the middle and slathered in melted cheese, like a Frito pie?

Nope! It's none of the above. Burger King's new Mac n' Cheetos are more like nuggets of deep-fried mac and cheese breaded with an orange Cheeto-flavored dust:

OK, we suppose that's one way to make Mac n' Cheetos. Let's take a closer look at the inside, shall we?

In the interest of full disclosure, we can't say we've actually tried Burger King's newest item (they're only available in certain test markets and not part of the national menu), but the response on social media has been positive. Twitter user @EdgarsDiamonds has even described Mac n' Cheetos as the "best thing BK has come up with yet," perhaps because he forgot they once sold us a Halloween Whopper with A1 Steak Sauce baked into the bun:

So what do you think? Would you try BK's new Mac n' Cheetos, or would you rather gouge your own eyes out with one of their plastic sporks?
