- Carey was slammed for her less than wonderful performance on "Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve." The singer stopped singing in the middle of her performance, began pacing the stage and told the audience to finish the lyrics for her. Carey blamed her disastrous show on technical difficulties and said it was Dick Clark Productions fault for not addressing the tech issues before the performance, including a malfunctioning earpiece.
