Did Joyce Mitchell agree to help two murderers escape from prison in exchange for the murder of her husband?

Escaped inmates Richard Matt and David Sweat are still on the loose, and their story is far from finished, but—in true Hollywood style—there is already a TV show in the works about them.

According to TMZ, Johnson Production Group is working on a series from the point of view of Joyce Mitchell, the woman who allegedly helped Matt and Sweat break out of the Clinton Correctional Facility in New York.

The production company told TMZ there is a need for female crime thrillers and they plan to have the show about Mitchell and the two escaped criminals on the air within about five months.

The team at Johnson Production Group told TMZ they are confident they can adjust the show as the story develops. The hope is that the series finds a home on Lifetime or Hulu, two companies Johnson Production Group has previously worked with.

According to their website, Johnson Production Group has produced a slew of thrillers, with titles like “Lost Behind Bars” and “Stalked By My Neighbor.”

Mitchell is jailed on charges she gave the inmates hacksaws and other tools used to cut through the walls of their cells. She has pleaded not guilty.

Sweat, 35, was serving a life sentence without parole in the killing of a sheriff's deputy. Matt, 48, was doing 25 years to life for the kidnap, torture and hacksaw dismemberment of his former boss.
