Tom Hanks in talks to star in new Clint Eastwood film

Tom Hanks is gearing up to take flight in the starring role as Capt. Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger — the hero pilot who guided US Airways Flight 1549 to safety on the Hudson River in January 2009 — in a film directed by Clint Eastwood.

Hollywood blog Deadline reports that Hanks is in talks for the plum part.

Eastwood, 85 who is coming off his massive hit “American Sniper,” is basing the movie on Sully’s 2009 book, “Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters.”
