Then/Now: The Original Cast of 'Melrose Place'

"Melrose Place" started off as a spin-off to "Beverly Hills 90210" and took place in a West Hollywood apartment complex, following the exploits of a group of 20- and 30-somethings. (Photo: FOX)

"Melrose Place" ran from 1992-1999 and was known for wildly over-the-top storylines that usually ended with someone thrown into the pool. The series began with eight main characters but saw many cast changes throughout the years. (Photo: FOX)

The series began as an episodic drama but quickly evolved into a soap-opera with ongoing, outrageous, and interwoven stories. Two of the main characters, aerobics instructor Rhonda Blair (Vanessa A. Williams) and struggling actress Sandy Harling (Amy Locane) were written out after the first season and replaced with Jo Reynolds (Daphne Zuniga) and Amanda Woodward (Heather Locklear). (Photo: FOX)

Thomas Calabro, 33, played womanizer Michael Mancini and was the only cast member to star on the show for all seven seasons. Michael started off as a devoted husband, a role which changed quickly as he became a manipulative villain, sleeping with pretty much every female character on the show. (Photo: AP)

Following "Melrose Place," Calabro had recurring roles on "Without a Trace,""Touched By an Angel," and "Nip/Tuck." Most recently, he had a recurring role on the ABC Family series "Greek." But for those who can never picture him as anyone besides Dr. Mancini - good luck! Calabro will be reprising the role of Michael Mancini in the new "Melrose Place" series. (Photo: AP)

Josie, now 39, left the series in the middle of season 5 and appeared in a string of TV movies. She has also made guest appearances on TV shows such as "Law and Order: SVU" and "The Secret Life of the American Teenager." It has been reported that she will appear as a guest star in the 2009 "Melrose Place," reprising her original role. Yay. (Photo: ABC Family)

Andrew Shue, 25, played Billy Campbell who started off as an aspiring writer struggling to adapt to life on his own. During his time on the show Andrew also appeared as a wife-beater in the film "The Rainmaker" with Matt Damon and Claire Danes.

In 2007, Andrew, 43, along with his sister Elizabeth, co-produced the feature film"Gracie." Aside from that, he has pretty much retired from acting and is currently on the Board of Directors for Do Something (which he co-founded) and runs the social networking website, Cafemom.com. (Photo: AP)

Courtney Thorne Smith, 25, played Billy's roommate Alison Parker, the receptionist at D&D Advertising who struggled with alcoholism. (Photo: FOX)

After leaving the show at the end of season 5, Courtney, 41, went on to play Georgia Thomas on "Ally McBeal." She said she left the show due to the immense pressure to stay thin and went on to star as Cheryl in the sitcom "According to Jim" from 2001-2008. (Photo: Reuters)

Grant Show, 30, was the catalyst behind the spin-off and first appeared as Jake Hansen - a struggling carpenter and bad-boy biker - on “Beverly Hills, 90210” as Kelly’s love interest. Grant became one of the hottest and best known stars of the show and also appeared as Jake in “Models, Inc.,” a Melrose spin-off. (Photo: AP)

Grant, now 47, left “Melrose Place” at the end of season 5 in 1997. After leaving the show, he went the guest-star route, appearing on “Six Feet Under,” “Private Practice,” “Dirt,” and “Point Pleasant.” He will star opposite Jenna Elfman in the upcoming 2009-2010 season of the sitcom “Accidentally on Purpose.” (Photo: AP)

Doug Savant, 28, played kind-hearted, gay social worker Matt Fielding on the series. Before Melrose, he gained notice for playing a younger version of Mac McKenzie on “Knot’s Landing.” (Photo: AP)

Doug, now 45, left the series in season 6 and went on to guest-star on several TV shows including “NCIS,” “Nip/Tuck,” “NYPD Blue,” and “24.” Doug is currently on “Desperate Housewives” playing Tom Scavo, Lynette’s husband. (Photo: AP)

Heather Locklear, 31, was brought in as a guest star after the first season in an attempt to raise ratings and revamp the show having already starred in two of Aaron Spelling’s hit shows - “Dynasty,” and “TJ Hooker.” Heather’s character, the ruthless Amanda Woodward, was so popular she became a regular cast member from the second season onwards, even though she was credited as a “special guest star” through the duration. After "Melrose," Heather, 47, starred on the TV sitcom "Spin City" with Michael J. Fox and later Charlie Sheen. She has appeared as a guest star on countless shows, but recently has made the news more for personal problems, such as a 2008 DUI arrest and her divorce from Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, who then shacked up with her former BFF, Denise Richards. Ouch. (Photo: AP)

Daphne Zuniga, 30, joined the cast at the end of the first season playing Jo Reynolds, a photographer running away from her abusive, alcoholic husband. Before joining the series, Daphne starred in a string of films including “The Sure Thing” with John Cusack, “Spaceballs,” “Gross Anatomy,” and more. (Photo: AP)

Daphne, now 46, left the series at the end of the fourth season. After her departure, she worked as one of many voice actors for the animated TV series, “Stories From My Childhood.” She starred in the short-lives series “Beautiful People” from 2005-2006 and starred in the fifth season premiere of “Nip/Tuck” in 2007. She has had a recurring role on “One Tree Hill” since 2007, playing Brooke’s callous mother Victoria Davis. She will also be reprising her role in the new “Melrose Place” series.

Laura Leighton, 23, became a season regular in season 3, playing Jane’s scheming, spoiled sister Sydney Andrews. Her character was presumed to be dead after being hit by a car at the end of season 5. (Photo: FOX)

After leaving “Melrose,” Laura, 41, guest starred on “Beverly Hills 90210” and appeared in several small films. She has also guest starred on several other shows including “Law and Order: SVU,” “CSI: Miami,” and “Boston Legal.” It has also been confirmed that her character, Sydney, faked her death and will reprise her role in the 2009 revival of “Melrose Place.” (Photo: AP)

Marcia Cross, 30, was cast as Dr. Kimberly Shaw soon after a guest-stint on “Knot’s Landing.” Her character was by far the most unbalanced and her acts of insanity made for some of the show’s most memorable moments (faking her own death, blowing things up, trying to kill people, stealing babies, and so much more). (Photo: AP)

After leaving the show in 1997, Marcia, 47, had a string of guest-roles, appearing on “Seinfeld,” “Cheers,” “Ally McBeal,” “Spin City,” “King of Queens,” and many more. She has played the role of Brie Van de Kamp on “Desperate Housewives” since 2004. (Photo: AP)

Jack Wagner, 35, was introduced in Season 3 as charming, charismatic, and totally corrupt Dr. Peter Burns, who had a very steamy on/off relationship with Amanda Woodward (Heather Locklear). Before Melrose, Jack became famous for his role as Frisco Jones on the soap “General Hospital.”

Jack, 49, has played Dominick Marone on the daytime soap “The Bold and the Beautiful” since early 2003. He is also an accomplished singer and recorded 5 albums in the 80’s. He continues to perform concerts to this day. (Photo: Reuters)

Kristin Davis, 30, had a recurring role as spoiled schemer Brooke Armstrong in previous seasons and became a series regular when she married Billie in season four. Due to the unpopularity of her character, she was killed off that same season.

Soon after “Melrose,” Kristin, 44, was cast as Charlotte York in the massively successful series “Sex and the City.” In 2008, she starred in the film adaptation of the series and is currently filming the sequel. (Photo: AP)
