- "The Goonies" tells the tale of a gang of kids who go on a wild adventure in order to find a lost pirate treasure. They hope that this treasure will provide enough money for them to save their neighborhood. Along the way they run into thieves, murderers and booby traps. "The Goonies" was a hit at the box office, grossing over $61 million in the U.S. alone. (AP)read more
- Sean Astin: Then Sean Astin made his film debut as Mikey at age 14. Mikey is the leader of the Goonies gang who tries desperately to save his beloved neighborhood from demolition at the hands of developers who want to build a golf course. When he finds a treasure map leading to the famous 'One-Eyed' Willy's hidden fortune, Mikey riles up his friends to find the treasure in hopes of finding enough money to save their homes. The innocent tween with braces captured the audiences hearts-especially when Mikey receives his first kiss (even if it was by accident). Astin received the Young Artist Award for his performance. - Sean Astin: Now After 'Goonies,' Sean Astin was in a few other small films but struck gold as the title character in 'Rudy' in 1993. In the early 2000s, Astin was cast as Samwise Gamgee in Peter Jackson's 'The Lord of the Rings' which turned out to be a huge success. The trilogy received numerous awards and acclamations. Astin even got a tattoo on his ankle of the word "nine" written in J.R.R. Tolkein's artificial Elf language. He married Christine Harrel on July 11, 1992 and has three daughters. - Corey Feldman: Now Feldman continued to be in films but after a very public battle with drugs, he found it difficult to reach the star status he once had as a kid. He continued to work with Haim on independent films and focused on his band Truth Movement and his solo career. In 2007, he and Haim starred in the reality show 'The Two Coreys' but it was canceled before the second season finished.
