Despite first calling off an investigation, police in Jenelle Evans and David Eason’s North Carolina hometown are now looking into allegations of animal cruelty after the “Teen Mom” star’s husband admitted to killing her dog on Instagram.

“Columbus County Sheriff’s Office and Columbus County Animal Control initiated a joint investigation into allegations,” a rep told Page Six in a press release Thursday.

On Wednesday, Columbus County Sheriff’s Office told Page Six that officers conducted a welfare check at Eason’s home on Monday night, and since all humans in the household were fine, they found “no evidence to substantiate a further investigation.”

However, it appears that after receiving pressure from the public — who were outraged by the killing of Evans’ French bulldog — police decided to look into matters further.

Eason confessed on Tuesday to shooting Evans’ dog, Nugget, after the animal allegedly snapped at his 2-year-old daughter Ensley.

“I dont give a damn what animal bites my baby on the face … whether it be your dog or mine, a dog is a dog and I dont put up with that s–t at all,” he captioned a clip of the dog on Instagram. “I’m all about protecting my family, it is my lifes mission. Some people are worth killing or dying for and my family means that much to me.”

In response to her husband’s admission, Evans told Us Weekly, “We are dealing with this rough situation. I want to focus on what’s best for me and my kids. [Divorce is] in thoughts, but nothing is finalized.”

The Sheriff’s Office and Animal Control’s investigation is ongoing. No arrests have been made.
