Sofia Vergara Turns Into Lucille Ball in Photo

Sofía Vergara may be the modern day Lucille Ball.

The Colombian funny woman, who portrays the hilarious over-the-top Latina Gloria Delgado-Prachett on ABC’s “Modern Family,” tweeted a photo of herself in full “I Love Lucy” character and wrote “Lucyyyyy I’m hooome.”

The photo, in which Vergara shows a striking resemblance to Lucille Ball, shows the actress donning bright red curly hair, red lipstick and a polka dot dress while making a funny face and looking straight into the camera.

In an interview published Wednesday by The Hollywood Reporter Vergara said it is "flattering" at age 40 for people to still consider her "sexy" and she acknowledged that her good looks have opened many doors for her in her life.

Vergara has been nominated for the third time this year for an Emmy Award for her role as Gloria in the popular comedy "Modern Family," which has made her a television star in the United States.

More On This...

"I never thought I could make money and support my family by being funny," said Vergara, who in the show's fourth season her character is pregnant.

The actress confessed that there is a lot of herself and other members of her family in the character of Gloria, who never hides her Latino femininity.

Vergara denied that she was getting tired of the fact that her physical appearance was generating so much interest.

"I think that would be ungrateful if I were upset because I'm seen as attractive or sexy. That's opened so many doors for me in my life. I'm 40 years old, and I love that people still think of me as sexy and as hot. It's very flattering," she said.

Vergara admitted, however, that there is a lot of character behind her outer image.

"Things get me mad. But the thing is, I get mad, and then I turn around and I forget. When I have a new person working with me or a new boyfriend, they have to adjust in the beginning," she said. "I can scream and I get really angry, and then I'll turn around and go to the bathroom, wash my hands and then come out and go, 'OK, we're going to lunch?'"
