Disney star and pop singer Selena Gomez was announced Monday as the host of the 2011 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs).

In addition to hosting the main show, Gomez will also engage with viewers online through Twitter and updates to the EMAs' official website during the broadcast, MTV said in a press release.

"I'm so excited to be the host of the 2011 MTV EMAs – it's a dream come true!" Gomez said in the press release. "This is such a huge event that always recognizes the biggest stars in music from across the globe, so it's a real honor to be MC at this year's show."

Lady Gaga leads the 2011 EMA nominees with six nominations, including Best Female, Best Pop Act, Best Song and Best Video. Katy Perry and R&B singer Bruno Mars follow with four nominations each.

Other contenders for EMAs include Coldplay, Eminem, Foo Fighters, Lil Wayne, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Snoop Dogg.

The 2011 EMAs will be presented on Nov. 6 in Belfast and air on MTV Europe.
