Sean Lennon unveils song co-written by Carrie Fisher

Carrie Fisher is revered by fans as Princess Leia, an outspoken comedian, a best-selling author and a mental health advocate. But one unlikely person revealed that she was a songwriter, too.

Musician Sean Lennon released a new song on Soundcloud, titled “Bird Song,” which was co-written by the late actress just before her death in late 2016 at age 60.

STARS REMEMBER ACTRESS CARRIE FISHER

“Carrie and I wrote this song years ago,” wrote the 41-year-old son of artists John Lennon and Yoko Ono. “When she died I just felt I had to record it. This is only a demo unmixed, we only had a few hours to record it. But the lyrics she wrote with me I think are marvelous.”

“Carrie and I used to stay up til dawn chatting and pontificating about life,” he added. “Those were my best moments. Anyway… We wrote a song about staying up too late and hearing the birds sing. Willow Smith (16-year-old daughter of actors Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith) is a prodigal angel and was generous enough to lend her golden voice to this little tune.”
