Melissa Joan Hart is backing Gary Johnson for president

Melissa Joan Hart thinks America is ready to elect a third-party president.
And the former “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch” star, 40, is so passionate about the idea that she’s joined up with Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson as his Connecticut Chairperson, reports People.
Her plan to get him in office doesn’t involve offering Americans a new option to chose from, rather she views splitting the difference between America’s dominant political parties as the pathway to success.

“I want to break away from this two-party system and I think it’s important for people to know that there’s another candidate out there who really toes the line between Democrat and Republican,” the actress told the magazine. “I mean he’s Libertarian. But socially he’s liberal, but fiscally conservative.”
It’s not just Johnson’s party affiliation that appeals to Hart, it’s his experience as the governor of New Mexico from 1995 to 2003.
“Governors, I love, because they already ran their state as like a little president,” she said. “So he gets the way, you know, things run. The politics of it all.”

While Hart seemed to acknowledge that Johnson probably won’t be in the White House come January, the actress-turned-politico said she hopes he’ll at least be given the chance to participate in one of the two remaining presidential debates.
“I think that everyone that I keep hearing say that, if they all voted for him we could have a third party win,” she said. “Even if he doesn’t get that far, I just hope that they let him debate."
