'Lost Boys' actor Brooke McCarter dead at 52, family says

Brooke McCarter, who starred in "The Lost Boys," died on Tuesday. He was 52.
The actor's family announced his death in a Facebook post, revealing that he had been battling the genetic liver condition alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AAT).

"Brooke was our loving son, brother, father, cousin, nephew and friend," the post reads. "Funeral arrangements are still being finalized. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."

While best known for his role as Paul in the 1987 vampire film, in which he starred opposite Jason Patric, Corey Haim, Corey Feldman, Kiefer Sutherland and Dianne Wiest, McCarter also made a notable appearance in the cult classic skateboard movie, "Thrashin'," with Tony Hawk, Josh Brolin and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He later returned to horror for "The Uh-oh Show" in 2009.

According to the late actor's website, he took a 10-year hiatus from Hollywood in 1998 to pursue business opportunities in telecommunications.
