'Lion King' Reigns Over 'Moneyball' at Weekend Box Office

The 3D re-release of Walt Disney Co.'s "The Lion King" topped the US weekend box office for the second week in a row, beating out the Brad Pitt baseball film "Moneyball."
"The Lion King" -- originally released in 2D in 1994 -- took in $22.1 million, according to early estimates from Hollywood.com.
"Moneyball," from Columbia Pictures, was close behind with $20.6 million.

Three new releases rounded out the top five. The Warner Bros. family drama "Dolphin Tale" placed third, earning $20.3 million in its opening weekend.
"Abduction" (Lionsgate), starring "Twilight" heartthrob Taylor Lautner, made $11.2 million to place fourth. Open Road Films' action movie "Killer Elite," starring Robert De Niro and Jason Statham, rounded out the top five with $9.5 million.
