Joe Jackson, father of Michael Jackson, dead at 89: reports

Jackson, who was 89 years old, died on June 27, according to TMZ. His death came two days after the anniversary of Michael Jackson's own death in 2009.

Jackson was the father of 11 children, including the late Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson. His famous brood also includes Randy Jackson, Janet Jackson, La Toya Jackson, Jermaine Jackson and more.

He was the architect of The Jackson Five musical group made up of his children.

He had a well-documented complicated relationship with Michael Jackson, who claimed his father beat him in a 1988 tell-all book.

Jackson married Katherine Scruse in 1949 and had 10 of his children with her.

Jackson was an awarded music manager

Jackson was honored as Best Entertainment Manager of All Time by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012, according to Billboard.

He was also inducted into the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame.

He had been battling cancer

Jackson had been battling pancreatic cancer and was known to be battling other ailments throughout the years as well.

He suffered a stroke in 2012 while at his Las Vegas home, according to People. Then, in 2015, he was hospitalized after suffering another stroke on his 87th birthday.

In 2017, Jackson was involved in a car accident in Las Vegas but only suffered minor injuries.
