Ivanka Trump explained why she feels the American dream can be achieved via numerous paths during a candid chat with Fox News’ Steve Hilton that will air on Sunday’s “The Next Revolution.”
“I think culturally, for a long time we’ve created and perpetuated a narrative that there’s one pathway to achieving the American dream and it's four-year university. And that’s been instilled into American students, it’s often American parents feel that that’s the only viable path, so you have kids going into school, racking up enormous amounts of student debt that they’ll often take decades if they’re ever able to pay it off -- without a skill, if they ultimately graduate,” the president’s older daughter told Hilton.

Trump – who sat down with Hilton as part of the administration’s Workforce Development initiative -- said that “opening up the prism” and acknowledging there are various roads would help Americans achieve their specific goals.
“It depends what it is that you want in your life and taking the stigma away from those who choose alternative pathways who choose technical school, vocational education,” she said. “At the end of the day it’s about connecting workers with their passion, with their jobs.”

Trump said she wants to “create a climate where people want to do business in America,” and added her father’s administration is creating such a climate.
“As a result, we have more people working today than any time in the history of this country. I mean, think about that fact in and of itself; it’s unbelievable,” she said.
Trump told the Fox News host that she has traveled across the country visiting with everyone from governors to private sector leaders who are optimistic and dedicated to investing in their workforce.

“They talk about business optimism,” she said. “Small business optimism, big business optimism, but there’s an optimism amongst workers that is deeply inspiring.”
