Hollywood Has-Beens

Gary Busey Busey was nominated for an Oscar for "The Buddy Holly Story" in 1978. Then he became best known for his substance abuse issues. Now he is best know for his stints on "Celebrity Rehab" and "Celebrity Apprentice." In 2011 he was dumped from the movie "Mansion of Blood" after it had started filming. In 2012 he filed for bankruptcy, citing among his personal possessions five pair of moccasins. Not good. Star Jones The lawyer became a household name after co-hosting "The View" for almost ten years. Leaving the show in a huff in 2006 probably wasn't the smartest move, as her most memorable job since was as a contestant on the fourth season of "Celebrity Apprentice." (Reuters)

Tara Reid The "American Pie" cutie should have followed the career path of "Pie" co-star Alyson Hannigan, who now stars on the hit sitcom "How I Met Your Mother." Instead, Reid became notorious for her partying and plastic surgery disasters. She appeared in the "Pie" reunion movie in 2012, but so far, that's about it. Val Kilmer Kilmer was wildly popular in the '80s and '90s starring in "Top Gun" and "The Doors." In 2010, he starred in "MacGruber." Exactly. For more pics of Val, go to x17online.com. (X17online.com)

Melanie Griffith The sexy Griffith rose to the top of Hollywood with movies like 1988's "Working Girl," in which she starred opposite Harrison Ford. Her more recent career consists of two canceled sitcoms "Twins" in 2006 and "Viva Laughlin" in 2007, and a guest appearance on "Nip/Tuck" in 2010. On the plus side, she nabbed Antonio Banderas, whose movie career is still rolling. Sharon Stone After a string of minor roles, Stone hit the big time with "Basic Instinct" in 1992. She was never able to follow up the film's incredible success, however, and her career eventually chilled. Most recently, she completed a four-episode arc on "Law and Order: SVU" and starred in a French film. Yes, a French film. (Reuters)

Meg Ryan Before Kate Hudson and Reese Witherspoon, Meg Ryan was the go-to blonde for romantic comedies, with megahits including "Sleepless in Seattle" and "You've Got Mail." Unfortunately, Ryan became better known for her overstuffed lips, and her most recent notable role was in "The Women" in 2008, for which she was nominated for a Razzie for worst actress. Ouch. (NI/X17online.com)

Brigitte Nielsen The former model turned actress had a promising career in the '80s with appearances in movies like "Red Sonja" and "Rocky IV." After appearing in B-list movies she transitioned into reality TV roles with "The Surreal Life" and later with "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew." Jennifer Love Hewitt First she was everyone's favorite girl next door on "Party of Five." Afterwards she stayed relevant with the movie franchise "I Know What You Did Last Summer." After "Ghost Whisperer" ended it's run in 2010, she was out do sight until she landed a cheeseball Lifetime series where she stars as a madam this year. On the plus side, she was still named to Maxim's Top 20 Hotties of 2012! For more pics of Jennifer, go to x17online.com. (X17online.com)

Pamela Anderson Was there anyone hotter than 'Baywatch' babe Pamela Anderson in the '90s? Nope. Today, Anderson makes money being on reality shows in foreign countries. For more pics of Pammy, go to x17online.com. (X17online.com)

Seann William Scott The 34-year-old star seemed like he was going to make it big after playing Stifler in "American Pie" in 1999. With a movie career that never quite took off (aside from his voicing of Crash in the 'Ice Age' animated movies), the biggest thing he has going for him now is 2012's "American Reunion," which did okay, but not great.

Keanu Reeves Keanu's career has come full circle, and that's usually not a good thing. After failed attempts at producing and directing, the "Matrix" star announced in 2011 that there will be a third installment of the movie that made his career, "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure," due out in 2013. Fortysomething Bill and Ted? Really? (AP)

David Hasselhoff The "Baywatch" actor is still hot in Germany. But not here. His most recent foray into television was starring on a show whose entire premise is introducing celebrities with people who share their name. That's it. That's the whole show. Ouch. (AP)

Kathleen Turner The sexy star of "Body Heat" was on top of Hollywood for almost a decade, starring in classics like "Prizz's Honor" and "When Peggy Sue Got Married" until rheumatoid arthritis restricted her roles and her star slowly fizzled. But Turner is still in the game, doing guest roles on TV series, and next year, lending her signature voice to Jessica Rabbit for "Roger Rabbit 2." (AP)

Kirstie Alley The "Cheers" star has been trying to regain her sitcom stardom with several vehicles over the past two decades. She was in the movies where babies talk. She was on a reality show about being fat. She was a Jenny Craig spokesperson. And most recently she was a finalist on "Dancing with the Stars." You have to hand it to her, Alley will not give up. And nobody loves a comeback story better than Hollywood. (AP)
