Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez were getting touch with his Spanish side when they named their newborn son.
In a nod to the French actor’s Spanish roots, Martinez and Berry, both 47, named their son Maceo-Robert, according to TMZ.com.
The name Maceo is said to be of Spanish origin meaning “gift of God.” The current version of the name is Mateo, or Matthew.

A source told E! News: “Olivier wanted to give a nod to his Spanish roots. They picked the name a while ago, they love it.”
The French actor’s father, Robert Martinez, was a Spanish boxer.
The couple, who tied the knot in July at a small chateau in Vallery, France, welcomed their first child together on Oct. 5 in Los Angeles. Berry has a 5-year-old daughter, Nahla Ariela, from her previous relationship with Gabriel Aubry.

Berry surprised many people – even herself – when she became pregnant again at age 46.
“This has been the biggest surprise of my life, to tell you the truth,” she said in April. “Thought I was kind of past the point where this could be a reality for me. So it’s been a big surprise and the most wonderful.”
