Gwyneth Paltrow is less like the average person than she would like you to think.

After Chef Mario Batali challenged the actress to feed her family for a week on a $29 budget -- what low income families on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) receive -- Paltrow admitted in her Goop newsletter that she failed.

"As I suspected, we only made it through about four days, when I personally broke and had some chicken and fresh vegetables (and in full transparency, half a bag of black licorice)," she confessed. "My perspective has been forever altered by how difficult it was to eat wholesome, nutritious food on that budget, even for just a few days—a challenge that 47 million Americans face every day, week, and year."

Paltrow shared a picture of the groceries she purchased with the $29.

Her list included things like cilantro, limes and avocados -- items many people on Twitter pointed out were not smart buys:

Paltrow added, "After trying to complete this challenge (I would give myself a C-)."
