Fans of Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood have been holding out for years waiting for the pair to put out a duets album, and it looks like they may finally get their wish.
The husband and wife superstars have been touring around the globe as part of Brooks wildly successful World Tour and talked about the possibility backstage at their first stop of 2016. According to WIN 98.5, the duo worked on their Christmas album over their holiday break.
"To hear her do 'What Are You Doing New Years Eve?' is like, 'Oh my God!'" Brooks gushes of Yearwood's singing. "It was supposed to be a duet … About 30 seconds into the song I just walked out of the studio because I knew it wasn't going to be a duet. I wasn't about to open my mouth after that, you know? It's just her doing her greatest Ella [Fitzgerald], you know, impersonation with Trisha kinda mixed in there. It was amazing!"
Yearwood and Brooks released a the powerful duet "In Anothers Eyes" in 1997, and fans have been clamoring for a reunion ever since. They've never recorded a Christmas album together, but have each recorded them separately, including Brooks "Beyond the Season" in 1992 and "Garth Brooks and the Magic of Christmas" in 1999. Yearwood also released "The Sweetest Gift" in 1994. Presumably, the album of holiday duets would come out with the 2016 shopping season.
Brooks World Tour has been setting records left and right for both attendance and revenue, bringing in about $1 million per show. As a result the artist was named country's top-earner of 2015 by Forbes.
