Evelyn Lozada on Chad Johnson Violence: 'Hope He Seeks Help'

Evelyn Lozada says that her husband, NFL player Chad Johnson, needs to get help and address his domestic violence issues.

“It is with great sadness and much trepidation that I release this statement addressing the domestic violence incident that happened this past Saturday,” Lozada told TMZ.  

The “Basketball Wives” star made headlines with Johnson over the weekend after the two got into a spat that landed Johnson, a.k.a. Ochocinco, in jail and Lozada with a 3-inch gash on her forehead.

The statement was her first comment since the fight went public.

“I am deeply disappointed that Chad has failed to take responsibility for his actions and made false accusations against me, it is my sincere hope that he seeks the help he needs to overcome his troubles.”

After the altercation, which reportedly began after Lozada found a condom receipt in their vehicle, the Miami Dolphins dropped Johnson as a player and VH1 canceled their upcoming reality spinoff, “Eve and Ocho.”

Lozada reportedly ran to her neighbors home to take refuge as Johnson drove around the block looking for her.

“Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well,” Lozada continued. “I’m grateful to my family, friends and fans for the outpouring of support during this difficult time.”

Lozada also learned on Monday that her brother-in-law, who walked her down the aisle on her wedding day last month, past away from cancer. He was 43.

Anthony Ochoa died after battling a long battle with cancer. Ochoa was married to Lozada’s sister, Sylvia. He also made multiple appearances in her reality show, “Basketball Wives.”

An insider tells TMZ that Ochoa was going to prominently be featured in the episode about the wedding but that is no longer a possibility since VH1 decided to ax  “Ev and Ocho” on Monday, due to the “seriousness of the allegations” against Johnson.
