Just days after the tragic death of her son, Eddie Montgomery's ex-wife is speaking out about his cause of death in the hope of helping another family who might be struggling with the same issues.
Hunter Montgomery, 19, died on Sunday after spending several days on life support at a hospital in Kentucky. His father, Montgomery Gentry singer Eddie Montgomery, broke the tragic news of his untimely passing, saying, "My son Hunter went to heaven today … I appreciate all your prayers and love and thank you for giving us privacy as we grieve and say goodbye."
Hunter’s passing was initially attributed to an unspecified accident, but his mother Montgomery’s ex-wife, Tracy Nunan, revealed on Wednesday night that the young man’s cause of death was an overdose. She lashed out at the media via her Facebook page, saying she was coming forward to end speculation, and in the hope that her son’s story might help someone else:

Montgomery’s death is made all the more tragic by the fact that he welcomed a son, Bennett, earlier this year. Eddie Montgomery and his family have set up a fund to benefit the infant.
