Julia Stiles wants to set the record straight: She had nothing to do with Dexter co-stars Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter getting divorced.

"I have absolutely nothing to do with the split between Michael and Jennifer," Stiles said in a statement obtained by E! Online. "We are good friends and enjoyed working together."

Dexter's Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter getting a divorce

On Monday, Hall and Carpenter announced they were getting a divorce after two years of marriage. Shortly after, speculation sparked online that Stiles, who played Hall's love interest during Season 5, was involved with the actor.

"This is a personal matter between them, and we should respect their privacy," the 29-year-old Stiles said. "Although I, too, prefer to keep my private life, private — I felt compelled to dispel the rumors I was somehow the cause for this matter."

On Thursday, the same day Hall got another SAG nod for his role on the Showtime series, Carpenter filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences and seeking spousal support from Hall, according to The Associated Press.

Hall, 39, and Carpenter, 31, met on the set of Dexter, where they play foster siblings. The pair married on Dec. 31, 2008.

Additionally, Dexter will go through another changing of the guard in Season 6. Scott Buck, an executive producer on the series, has been promoted to showrunner, a Showtime rep confirms. Buck replaces Chip Johannessen, who became showrunner in Season 5 after Clyde Phillips exited the series.
