2015 was a tough year for country music. From the divorce of country music's former power couple to the terminal cancer diagnosis of one of the genre's talented singers, here are a few of the lowest moments this year.

Joey + Rory cancer diagnosis
Country duo Joey + Rory revealed in October that there was nothing more that medicine could do for Joey Feek; her cancer was terminal. The married couple decided to stop seeking treatment and asked fans for prayers.

Joey has been spending time with her family at home including their 2-year-old daughter Indiana, who has down syndrome. The couple recently received some good news; their version of “If I Need You” has been nominated for a Grammy. The Feeks hope Joey will live to see 2106’s Grammy Awards.

Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton divorce
Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert shocked the country music world when they announced their divorce in July. The former power couple’s four-year marriage was plagued with tabloid rumors, but the exes have remained civil, at least on social media, since their split.

At the time of their divorce, the couple released a statement saying, "This is not the future we envisioned. And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter."

They weren’t the only couple to announce their split in 2015; Reba McEntire and Narvel Blackstock announced their split after 26 years of marriage. Jake Owen and his wife Lacey Buchanan filed for divorce as well.

Eddie Montgomery loses son, Randy Rogers loses newborn daughter
Montgomery Gentry singer Eddie Montgomery suffered a tragic loss this year with the death of his 19-year-old son, Hunter who died in September. Montogemery’s ex-wife revealed their son died of an overdose.

Country singer Randy Rogers lost his newborn daughter, Rumer Rain, in June after she was diagnoses with a rare genetic condition that impairs brain function. Rumer Rain died six days after she was born.

Several country legends died
Country music lost many greats this year, including Little Jimmy Dickens. The singer died Jan. 2 at the age of 94.
