He may be the most unlikely of mentors, but Charlie Sheen is hoping to take Lindsay Lohan under his wing.
The headline-making actor caused a stir once again over the weekend with his most recent comments regarding the troubled starlet.
"I have a kinship with somebody [Lindsay] who clearly needs a mentor, whether she wants one or not,” Sheen told gossip site TMZ.
He said he hopes Lohan will turn to me "for some advice, from a guy who's been down the road as well as every other side trail on the journey."
"If she listens, she'll win. If she doesn't, that's on her."
Sheen has been a surprising supporter of the young actress in the last few months.
Most recently Sheen helped secure Lohan a guest starring role on his television show “Anger Management,” playing his love interest.
The duo’s unlikely friendship blossomed while they worked on the film “Scary Movie 5” together.
And despite what the rumor mills would like you to believe, Sheen swears that he and Lohan have a purely platonic relationship.
"I love her, I respect her,” Sheen told TMZ, “and I've never laid a finger on her that wasn't on film.”
Aside from helping to expand her acting resume, Sheen reportedly paid a large portion of Lohan's unpaid tax bill back in December.
While it’s reported he gave the actress $100,000 that he said she was owed for work on “Scary Movie 5”, Sheen has not confirmed just how much he lent to Lohan.
