The Argentinian soloist Rosa Antonelli performed to a sold-out crowd at New York’s prestigious Carnegie Hall for the first time in 2011.

She was the first pianist to perform a repertoire entirely comprised of Latin American and Spanish composers, and she will do it again when she returns to the same stage on Wednesday night.

“It’s magnificent. The acoustics [are] wonderful. The magic, the history of the hall is very important,” Antonelli told Fox News Latino.

For her performance on Wednesday night, which she said took at least a year to prepare for, the pianist will be premiering two pieces never played before in New York: Spanish composer Isaac Albeniz’s “Champagne Waltz” and Luis Gianneo’s “Tres danzas argentinas” (“Three Argentinian Dances”).

“One of my goals is to promote Latin American and Spanish composers as much as I can,” Antonelli said. “So that people don’t feel like Latin American music is only the popular music like salsa, mambo, merengue – which I love. But we have beautiful composers at the same level as European composers.”

The concert in Carnegie Hall will benefit the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Council’s scholarship fund.
