Bon Jovi: A Hair Retrospective

We invite you to celebrate the Bon Jovi's new album 'The Circle' (out today) with a look back at the band's amazing hairstyles. The New Jersey rockers burst onto the music scene in 1984 with hair as big as their dreams. Clad in tight neon spandex and permed into oblivion, they hit the ground running with smash single 'Runaway.' Since then, hit albums have propelled Jon and the boys to superstardom. But with over 25 years of fame comes an evolution of hair... RELATED: TOP 10 SKANKIEST HAIR METAL BANDS OF ALL TIME!

Bon Jovi band members David Bryan, Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora and Tico Torres attend the premiere of Showtime's 'Bon Jovi: When We Were Beautiful' documentary in New York on October 21, 2009. These days, the coifs are somewhat contained. Jon and Richie opt for soccer mom flair, complete with layers and highlights. David sticks with a blonde perm, and Tico prefers his hair flair in the form of a triangular flavor savor. (AP)

The guys get mature in this group shot, opting for slimming black and somber hair. Guess Tico didn't get the message about silver medallions. (AP)

How far he's come! Jon looks to the heavens, showcasing his fluffy blonde halo of hair. (AP)

That's more like it! The highlights are bright, the layers are defined. And everyone has a medallion. (AP)

The guys had a more laid back look during the era of 'Bounce' and 'This Left Feels Right.' The playfully tousled bed head says "fun" but the tough stares and sunglasses say "don't mess." (AP)

Even Bon Jovi wasn't immune to the crazy pants trend of 2001. But all the floral appliques and tie dye in the world can't make up for the fact that they didn't bother doing their hair for the first U.S. stop of their "One Wild Night Tour" supporting their album 'Crush.' (REUTERS)

In the late 90s, Jon had chopped off his signature long locks and embraced the spiky gelled look popular at the time. He's barely recognizable! (AP)

The band is supposed to be celebrating their MTV Europe Music Award for the Best Rock Group, but their deflated 'dos tell a different story. The length is still there, but the height is mostly gone, taking with it a certain "je ne sais quois." (REUTERS)

Grrr, baby! Jon lets down his hair during the 'Bad Medicine' era. Flowing locks and abundant chest hair paint a pretty picture, no? (AP)

Now this is glorious hair. The band's hit album 'New Jersey' helped solidify the members of Bon Jovi as superstars, as did amazing photo shoots like this one. And all that chest hair didn't hurt either.

Jon accents his huge hair with a large, pirate-style hoop earring. And what's that down below? A fringed jacket, of course. (AP)

Here's Richie, proving that Jon doesn't always get all the hair glory. His long signature mullet is topped off with glossy bangs. And for his face? Glossy lips. Kudos, Sambora.

Nothing says sex appeal like blue leopard-print spandex. Well, that and perms.

There are no words that can do this glorious shot justice.

'Slippery When Wet' propelled the guys to fame in 1986, and with hair like this, how could they NOT have become famous?
