Sam Poueu, a contestant on the 2010 season of "The Biggest Loser," was in stable condition Monday after suffering major injuries in four-story fall from a roof, People reported.

Poueu, 25, fell from the roof of a San Francisco apartment building when he tried to climb down a fire escape. He was taken to an intensive care unit (ICU) with head trauma and several internal injuries, and underwent three surgeries following the Sept. 3 incident.

"We are excited to share that Sam is out of ICU and is currently in stable condition," Poueu's family and his fiancee Stephanie Anderson's family said in a joint statement.

"He still has a long road of recovery ahead of him, but we are so encouraged by the progress he continues to make daily," the statement continued.

The families said Poueu was talking and seeing visitors, and was "grateful, as are we, for all the love, support and prayers he has received."

Poueu competed on the ninth season of the weight-loss competition show, but was eliminated two weeks before the season finale. He had since been working as a trainer at the Biggest Loser Fitness Ridge Resort in Malibu, Calif., which offers customers a weight-loss program similar to that seen on the series.
