'Big Bang Theory' spinoff in the works, reports say

“Big Bang Theory” fans may be getting a whole lot more of Sheldon in the future.
According to multiple media reports, a spinoff series based on Sheldon’s childhood is in the early stages of development. Jim Parsons, who plays Sheldon, reportedly has a behind-the-scenes role in the show.
CBS declined FOX411’s request for comment, but according to The Hollywood Reporter the network is said to have picked up the series.
Variety reports the spinoff is the product of “Big Bang” Executive Producer Chuck Lorre and Showrunner Steve Molaro. The site reports “Big Bang” co-creator Bill Prady is likely to sign on for the spinoff as well.
A rep for Lorre told FOX411, "We are not commenting at this time."
Currently, CBS’ hit show “The Big Bang Theory” is in its 10th season, and an 11th season has yet to be confirmed.
Whether or not the network takes on more seasons of the show is a pricey decision. Stars Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki and Parson each reportedly earn $1 million per episode.
Last month, Cuoco hinted to Jimmy Kimmel that cost was holding up plans for future seasons of the series.
“It’s a very expensive question for a lot of people,” Cuoco said on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
In August, at the Television Critics Association Press Tour, CBS boss Glenn Geller said he was confident the show would go on past season 10’s 24 episodes.
“We are very confident that everyone involved wants more ‘Big Bang’ past year 10,” Gellar said, according to The Wrap. “I know [show producer] Warner Bros. will make those deals.”
Reps Warner Bros. did not immediately return FOX411’s request for comment.
