American Idol: Jessica Sanchez Gets Judges' Only Save in Shocking Elimination

In a shocking turn of events, Jessica Sanchez saw herself in jeopardy of elimination on American Idol Thursday night, but it did not last long as the judges refused to let her go.

The judges used their only "save" to keep the part-Latina crooner in the competition.

Almost as in an act of protest against the public's vote, superstar performer Jennifer Lopez, music producer Randy Jackson and rock star Steven Tyler took the stage and stopped Sanchez from singing her “save song,"  which Idol contenders sing in the hopes of being kept for another round.

"Give me that mic!” yelled Lopez as she snatched the microphone from Sanchez.

“This is crazy! Yes we are using that save! This is crazy! Go sit down,” said a frustrated Lopez.

The “Dance Again” singer’s jaw dropped when American Idol host Ryan Seacrest told Sanchez she had the least amount of votes.

“You don’t have to go home, baby,” Lopez added.

Jackson was also fuming at America for attempting to send Sanchez packing.

"We are saving Jessica, without any doubt!” Jackson said as he and his fellow judges hugged each other and Sanchez on stage.

Sanchez had impressed the judges Wednesday night after singing an impeccable rendition of Jazmine Sullivan’s “Stuttering,” which Jackson called “superb” and “the highest level” of singing.

“Are you kidding me? America, vote for the best,” said Jackson.

“This girl is one of the best singers in America ever,” he added.

Tyler was beside himself, adding that there was no doubt the judges “were going to use our card tonight,” after seeing the surprising “bottom three.”

Also in the bottom three were the Elise Testone and Joshua Ledet, who like Sanchez was praised for his near perfect rendition of Bruno Mars’ “Runaway Baby” Wednesday night.

As for Sanchez -- who in the end still sang her “save song,” Deborah Cox’s “How Did You Get Here,” after being rescued by the judges -- she was nothing but grateful because she didn’t know if the judges would save her.

"I don’t expect anything,” Sanchez told Seacrest when asked if she saw the elimination coming.”Whatever happens… happens.”

The part-Mexican crooner also told the crowd that she was extremely proud of everything she had achieved so far in the competition.

“I’ve been working hard my whole life," Sanchez said.

Interscope Records frontman Jimmy Lovine was glad the judges used the save on Sanchez.

"I’m going to get a new flat screen because mine isn’t working," Lovine said in regards to America not voting for Sanchez after her solid performances Wednesday night.

Jackson added that he had “never seen this happen” on the show.

“This is a ridiculous,” Jackson said. “They got it so wrong tonight."

Since Sanchez was saved and no contestant went home, the number of contestants vying for the Idol throne remains at seven.
