Of the six American Idol contestants remaining, none impressed judge Jennifer López more than rock-and-roll fiend James Durbin.
Durbin, 21, had López dancing and smiling Wednesday night as he showed a softer, more romantic side while performing Carole King's "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow."
"I thought from the beginning," said López excitedly, "it was magical.
"You had me moving here for the first time all night," she added. "You are going to be the star of the night with that [performance]. It was amazing for me.”
It isn't the first time Durbin hear such praise from J.Lo and her fellow judges.
Just last week, López said Durbin's rendition of Muse's "Victorious" was "theatrically, the best performance." And of course, who could ever forget the Heavy Metal performance and the flaming piano from recent episodes.
"When I think back of every single week since we started with the Top 13, James has had a strong week every single week,” López said. "He has not blown one week. We talk about consistency on this show, and that’s what’s going to win it.”
Randy Jackson concurred, adding that, at this rate, Durbin will probably be the last man standing.
"You know what I think, guys? This guy just might win the whole thing! Crazy!” Jackson said.
“Tonight you weren’t just a great rock singer. Tonight, you proved that you are a great singer, and that’s the most important thing.
“That was incredible,” he added.
