American Idol: Heejun Han’s Time is Up, Sanchez is Talk of the Show

And then there were… eight.
Heejun Han was the latest contestant eliminated from American Idol Thursday night, as he and Hollie Cavannagh found themselves in the bottom two.
Unlike Cavannagh, the New York native had been voted into the bottom two for several weeks now.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Jennifer Lopez, who’s been a huge fan of Han since his first audition looked deeply hurt, when learning that Han was at risk of going home again.
For a moment the judges were undecided as whether they would use their only save of the season on Han.

{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}“You saw it [elimination] coming last week and you took it up a couple of notches,” said Tyler as his voiced chocked up.
After hesitating for a moment Tyler let Han have the bad news.
“Unfortunately, we’re going to have to let you go.”
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}The judges were not the only ones who were sad to see Han depart from the competition.
As Han sang his last tune, “A Song for You” by Donny Hathaway, the camera showed fellow contestant Phillip Phillips very sad. Phillips and Han were known to be friends during the course of the show.
Jessica Sánchez, who nailed her “Sweet Dreams” rendition of Beyoncé’s song was also upset for Han, even though she was all the judges and mentors could talk about.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}“Jessica you made have slowed down Beyoncé's song, but there's no slowing down the votes,” said host Ryan Seacrest. “You are safe."
Interscope records' main man, Jimmy Lovine was very proud of Sánchez, but fears this will cost Cavannagh.
"At16 she’s [Sánchez] managed to…[sing] like she has 10 years of experience,” said Lovine.

“Jessica has a more soulful [approach,]” continued Lovine. “Hollie comes from a more technical place. “She needs to fill in that void [because] it will come down to Jessica and Hollie.”
Lovine added that experience is what most of the remaining contestants are lacking.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}“He needs to pay his dues,” Lovine said of DeAndre Brackensick.
Lovine felt the same way about Mississippi native Skylar Laine, who also was in jeopardy of being eliminated Thursday evening.
As for Joshua Ledet and Colton Dixon, Lovine wished they didn't let their emotions get in the way of their performance.
