Allison Williams postpones wedding due to dad Brian Williams scandal
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Allison Williams has postponed her wedding to fiancé Ricky Van Veen due to the scandal surrounding her dad, NBC News anchor Brian Williams.
Van Veen was in the audience with Allison’s mother on Wednesday night during a Q&A between the actress and Seth Meyers. When the “Late Night” host asked the “Girls” star about her wedding planning, Allison revealed, “It’s been a very full year … You sort of think, ‘What could possibly come along that would make me not think about [my wedding]?’ And then I get ‘Peter Pan’ and I think, ‘OK, I will think only about Neverland and then we’ll go back to planning our wedding,'” she explained.
“And then current events started happening and so that derailed it a little bit … It’s just something we haven’t focused on, but, spoiler alert, we are excited!”
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}She also told Meyers of her father — who’s been suspended by NBC News for fudging facts about his time covering Iraq in 2003 — “One thing this experience has not done is shake my trust and belief in him as a man. He’s a really good man, an honest man, a truthful man — he has so much integrity and so much respect for journalism. And yes, he’s a really good dad. I know you can trust him because, as any good daughter does, I’ve tested him on that.”
The couple got engaged in February 2014.
