BMW is the latest, and last of the German automakers to enter the four-passenger door-coupe game with the upcoming 6 Series Gran Coupe. It joins the Audi A7, Porsche Panamera and Volkswagen CC in a segment that was essentially created from scratch by the Mercedes-Benz CLS in 2006.

Depending on your perspective, the Gran Coupe is either a stretched version of the two-door 6 Series, or a smaller and sleeker take on the 7 Series. All three cars share the same basic platform.
It’s set to go on sale next summer with a choice of turbocharged six and eight-cylinder engines, loads of high tech equipment and athletic handling. Pricing has not been announced.
