The Cars of Dick Clark

One of the many businesses Dick Clark was involved with is a chain of American Bandstand theaters and restaurants, and the location in Branson, Missouri, was once home to one of the biggest collections of automobiles from that most rockin' year of 1957. The 57 Heaven Museum closed its doors in 2009, and the cars were all sold by Mecum Auctions, but here are a few of the classics that rock and roll wouldn't be the same without. (Mecum Auctions)

No car is more synonymous with rock and roll than the '57 Chevy, and this is one of the best. A 12-time award winner, this Larkspur Blue drop top has a dual-barrel 283 V8 under the hood and Continental kit out back. (Mecum Auctions)

Sam Hanks won the 1957 Indianapolis 500 was the proud owner of one of these replica pace cars, based on the Mercury Turnpike Cruiser. Only 1,256 were built and they were the highest-priced cars in the company's lineup that year at a whopping $4,103. (Mecum Auctions)

The Golden Hawk lived up to its name as one of the glitziest cars of the era, and with a supercharged 289 V8 under the hood was always ready for a little rebellious activity. (Mecum Auctions)

Its 4-barrel V8, trimmed tailfins and long, low profile helped make the all-new Fairlane the best-sellling car of '57. (Mecum Auctions)

DeSoto would be discontinued in 1961, but the rare '57 Firedome Convertible remains one of the most sought-after cars from the year. Click here for more of the 57 Heaven Museum collection from Mecum Auctions (Mecum Auctions)
