Running from the police is always a bad idea, but flying away is even worse.
That’s what an escapee from a Louisiana work release program, Kevonte Dekorey Austin, learned after the stolen pickup truck he was riding in was pulled over for speeding and he jumped into the driver’s seat and took off.
After leading police on a lengthy chase that reached speeds of up to 115 mph, Austin drove the Toyota Tacoma over a spike strip which veered the truck into a roadside ditch that launched it over a fence onto a Toyota Camry parked outside a restaurant, KSLA news reports.

Incredibly, neither Austin nor the woman in the car, Barbra Harlon, was seriously injured in the crash.
"I felt around to see if I was hurt and could tell that I was okay," Harlon told KSLA. "God was with me."
The 18-year-old convict had been in jail for car theft and is suspected of stealing a coworker’s Ford Ranger when he ditched his job on February 10.
