An Italian automotive website has published what it claims are the first leaked images of the Toyota Prius minivan that the Japanese automaker is planning to unveil at the upcoming Detroit Auto Show in January.

The photos of the silver, five-door multipurpose vehicle appear to closely match those of a teaser advertisement that Toyota released last week on a billboard in Malibu and on Facebook, which shows the new vehicle mostly obscured by a standard Prius parked in front of it.

Techincal specifications for the the larger Prius have not been revealed, but autoblog.it reports that it will use the same powertrain as the current model and seat seven passengers.

A Toyota spokesperson tells Foxnews.com the company can't confirm the photos "as anything coming to the U.S."
