Ford reveals all-new 2015 Edge crossover

The automaker’s large crossover is being redesigned for 2015, with new engines and safety technology.
The five-passenger vehicle is slightly larger than the outgoing model, with an updated look that’s more in line with Ford’s latest cars.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}Three engines will be available: an all-new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, 3.5-liter V6 and a version of the upcoming 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 that will also be used in the 2015 Ford F-150 pickup, and promises to be the most powerful edge engine ever, with more than 300 hp. A diesel-powered model will also be produced for overseas markets, as well as the first right-hand drive version of the Edge.
Electronic driver aids include adaptive radar cruise control, a lane departure prevention system and a 180-degree front-mounted camera to assist when crossing intersections and steering out of parking spaces.
The latter is something the Edge is able to do for itself, along with autonomously pulling into parallel and perpendicular spots while the driver works the gas and brakes.
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}A variable ratio steering system that adjusts the number of times the wheel needs to be turned depending on the situation, a hands-free tailgate and airbag-equipped rear seatbelts will also be offered.
Ford is on track to sell over 120,000 Edges in the U.S. each year, which is about twice the number of full-size Taurus sedans it sells. Ford President of The Americas Joe Hinrichs says its popular with both families and empty nesters.
