Final Dodge Viper and Demon sold for $1 million

Now this is a clearance sale.

The last Dodge Viper and Dodge Challenger SRT Demon that will ever be built were auctioned for charity as a pair over the weekend for $1 million at a Barrett-Jackson event in Connecticut, with all of the proceeds going to the United Way.

The winning bidder remains anonymous.

Both cars were painted Viper Red and offered on Saturday with a collection of unique memorabilia and special documentation marking their significance.

The Viper wasn’t just the last of its model line built, but also the final car produced at the historic Conner Avenue Assembly facility in Detroit, which is being converted into a museum and meeting place.

The 840 hp Demon marked the end of a single-year run of 3,300 cars earmarked for the U.S. and Canada that currently holds the titles of most-powerful American car and worlds-quickest.

While its possible Dodge will find a way to outdo the Demon before the current generation of the Challenger expires in 2021, or so, there are currently no plans for a successor to the Viper.
