Dogecoin-sponsored NASCAR revealed with much Shiba!

Shiba Inu is ready to act like a real dog and chase some cars!

The Dogecoin mascot has made its way onto Phil Parsons Racing’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Ford Fusion ahead of this Sunday’s Aarons 499 at Talladega Motor Speedway.

In March, a Reddit group dedicated to the burgeoning digital currency (think of an alt rock version of Bitcoin) banded together to raise the $55,000 needed to sponsor the underfunded car for the race, one of the premiere events on the NASCAR calendar.

The group then got to work crowdsourcing a design for the livery, which predictably features Shiba Inu and the Dogecoin community’s motto: “To the Moon.”

A rendering was revealed a few weeks ago, but now the actual wrap has been applied to the 98 car, driven by Josh Wise, and unveiled by his team on Facebook and Twitter.

The 31-year-old Californian can’t believe what a short strange trip it’s been.

“Watching this whole thing come to life from the beginning has been crazy,” he says. “The support of the Reddit and Dogecoin community is just mind boggling, and now we are sitting here with the Dogecoin community’s "Moon Rocket"! If it's as fast on the track as it looks we will have a great weekend at Talladega.”

Wise currently sits 36th in points, with a season best finish of 21st in the Bojangles Southern 500 at Darlington Motor Speedway.
