A driver and passenger narrowly escaped being fatally injured this week when a piece of plywood came loose from a truck and smashed through the windshield of their Volkswagen sedan.
The incident happened Wednesday on Highway 410 in Brompton, Canada. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) released photos of the aftermath showing the sheet of wood sticking through the glass and resting just inches from where the driver’s body would be.

According to the CBC, the VW’s occupants were taken to a nearby hospital and treated for minor injuries.
The OPP is hoping the incident will serve as a reminder to motorists to properly secure their cargo.
