In the September edition of the magazine, Consumer Reports has chosen five top selling cars it thinks you should cross off your shopping list, citing low scores in its extensive testing or subpar reliability ratings. Thinking about getting one of these?

Extremely reliable and very fuel efficient, the magazine found the hot-selling Civic to have a poor ride and mediocre interior compared to some of its newest competitors. (© 2012 American Honda Motor Co., Inc. )

It may look attractive, but the magazine says its MyFord Touch infotainment system is distracting to use, the ride is jittery and reliability below average. (© 2011 Ford Motor Company)

Although it has off-road abilities that match its rugged looks, the magazine says it has an unrefined ride on pavement and poor fuel economy, earning it one of the lowest test scores of any vehicle.

The last of the American minivans comes feature-packed, but the magazine says it is the least reliable vehicle in the segment and has a disappointingly low-budget interior. Click here for more from ConsumerReports.org
