It was a muscle car matchup straight out of the 1960’s.

At the 2011 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction this past Saturday, a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS and a 1968 Dodge Dart loaded with a HEMI V8 engine went head to head for the attention of the bidders. But these were no ordinary coupes.

The Camaro belonged to singer Bret Michaels, of Poison fame, while the Dart was a heavily customized piece of machinery commissioned by professional wrestler-turned actor, Bill Goldberg. And it wasn’t the first time the two friends have competed against each other. Both were contestants on NBC’s “The Celebrity Apprentice” in 2010, where Bret Michaels was triumphant. His record against Goldberg is now 2-0.

After watching the 713 horsepower Dart fetch a respectable $92,500, Michaels’ Camaro snagged a whopping $200,000, with a signature guitar and lifetime backstage pass to his concerts thrown in for good measure.

There were no hard feelings as both stars were on hand to raise money for the American Diabetes Association and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Michaels suffers from the disease.

Later in the evening the pair helped stir up the crowd during a special charity auction for a one of a kind, Grabber Blue-painted 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca, which went for $450,000, the proceeds of the sale earmarked for the JDRF.
