Angelinos are no strangers to bad traffic, but with the closure of a 10-mile stretch of the 405 highway this weekend, the city is bracing for the worse. Secondary roads and side streets for miles around are expected to bear the brunt of the overflow, and Los Angeles city residents are being encouraged to just stay home until Monday. But on a summer weekend in the second largest city in America, that's just not going to happen. Tango What’s the best way to beat traffic? Drive right through it. The Tango is so narrow that it can split lanes like a motorcycle and seats two in tandem so you can still use the HOV lanes. It’s also electric, so you’ll impress your Hollywood-type friends, and can accelerate to 60 mph in just 4 seconds –assuming you can find a clear road to do it on.![terra2]()
Terrafugia Transition OK, there is a better way to beat traffic: Fly over it. Unfortunately, Jet Blue’s Long Beach to Burbank $4 tickets are all sold out, but there’s still hope. The Terrafugia Transition is a “roadable aircraft” that can be parked in your garage, driven on the highway and transformed into a two-seat airplane. Bummer, it doesn’t go on sale until 2012 – when the world is really expected to end. Maybe if you ask nicely the company will lend you a prototype for the weekend. Infiniti M Really hate that stop and go traffic? Why not let the car take handle it for you? The Infiniti M has a radar cruise control system that will autonomously bring the car to a crawl as the traffic in front of it slows, then accelerate back to speed when things get moving again.
